The draws have been made for the opening rounds of the Investec Women’s Cup and Trophy as well as the 2nd XI Cup. With the ties regionalised at this early stage in the competition, local bragging rights as well as a safe passage to the next round are up for grabs.

With the Premier League teams entering in the second round, there are still plenty of intriguing match ups. Last season’s giant killing runners-up Hampstead and Westminster take on South Division 1 side Staines. In the West, Taunton Vale, who dropped out of the Investec Women’s Hockey League in 2013 go up against Team Bath Buccaneers who did likewise in 2012. Whilst in the North, Conference side Ben Rhydding will hope to avoid a giant killing as they battle it out with Northern Premier outfit Sheffield Hallam.

In the Trophy, holders Henley have been handed a short trip to local rivals Sonning who play in the league below. Didsbury Greys, who had to settle for the runners-up medals last time out will open their campaign at home to Stockport Bramhall. The two beaten semi-finalists, Guernsey and Folkestone both face away trips to Oxford and Bishop’s Stortford respectively.
