Sainsbury's School Games 2014

The Sainsbury's 2014 School Games is currently taking place in Manchester. The games seek to create an inspirational and motivational setting that not only provides elite young sports people with the opportunity to thrive and perform at the highest levels, but encourages more young people to take part and succeed in sport. The Youth Sport Trust has developed and organised the Sainsbury’s 2014 School Games with support and funding from the National Lottery and Sport England.

Hockey is one of 12 sports that is part of the Sainsbury's School Games. Boys and Girls compete in an U17 competition with England, Scotland, Wales & Ulster battling it out. The competition consists of two pools of three teams, played as a round robin. Classification matches will be played based on the final standings of the two pools on Sunday 7th September.

The Sainsbury’s School Games offers all players and coaches involved a unique opportunity to experience a multi-games environment of the highest order. England Hockey are extremely privileged to be able to engage so many athletes currently on the AASE programme. This professional, performance environment will increase the experiences players can draw on in future years as they continue their developmental journey.
