Over 750 players get Back to Hockey

Back to hockey oct 2014

Clubs across the country are now offering Back to Hockey sessions specifically for men as well and women. So far this autumn more than 750 players have picked up a stick again.

Run by clubs, Back to Hockey sessions are fun, sociable and informal and aimed at people who either haven’t played hockey for a number of years or who are looking to play for the first time.

Do you miss the buzz of playing or have a friend or family member you think would love to play hockey? You can find your local Back to Hockey session here. Don’t worry if the sessions have already started – you’ll be more than welcome to join!

Nina recently attended a Back to Hockey programme at Wapping HC and tells us how she got on;

‘I've had a pretty long hiatus from hockey and was actually really nervous about giving it a go again: how rusty was I going to be? Would the back to Hockey programme be too basic or too hard? What if everyone else was amazing having only taken a few years out of the game?

I needn't have worried though, the sessions were pitched perfectly and as the weeks progressed the coaches were great at recognising when to make things a bit more challenging for us, which made every session rewarding. I also picked up some great new friends along the way.

Although I've had a 10 year-long long absence I'm so glad I've come back to the game; it's so much fun.’

@MrBLCade took part in Back to Hockey at Southgate HC and summed up his experience perfectly in this tweet;

‘@EnglandHockey I took part in BtH campaign and had an absolute blast. Most fun I have had in ages. Thanks to all @SouthgateHC’
