Invitation to tender: Hospitality Sales & Catering Partner

England Hockey is seeking an agency to sell hospitality packages for our major events and to work in partnership to grow our hospitality offer over a four year period, 2015-2018.

England Hockey is a limited company that is not for profit with an annual turnover of circa £10m. England Hockey is responsible for the strategic direction for the sport, undertakes a lead role in developing the image of the sport, of marketing it and securing sponsorship packages. Hosting major events is a key strand of England Hockey’s strategy.

The strategic vision of England Hockey in the period 2014-17 is to create “A Nation Where Hockey Matters” by delivering against the following aims:

3. Grow Participation

4. Enhance Infrastructure

5. Be a Strong and Respected NGB

England Hockey’s events portfolio is central to its aim to deliver this vision and increase the visibility for our sport. It’s also England Hockey’s desire to create long term partnerships during this exciting period to successfully support these outcomes, as well as delivering mutually beneficial results for the organisations we work with.

The opportunity

England Hockey is seeking an agency to sell hospitality packages for our major events and to work in partnership to grow our hospitality offer over this four year period, 2015-2018.

There are 4 points of focus for England Hockey in issuing this ITT:

• Commercial success, working in partnership with England Hockey to maximise the growth of our hospitality sales base.

• To reach new markets, particularly corporate markets and attract the ‘big event goers’ to the sport of hockey.

• To provide a great customer purchasing experience.

• If providing catering – to provide a great customer experience on event.

There’s never been a more exciting time to be involved with the sport of hockey. Hockey achieved the third highest attendance at the London 2012 Olympic Games with 633,000 spectators, 50% of whom were new to watching the sport.

The Rabobank Hockey World Cup in The Hague this summer attracted sell out crowds of 15,000 per day at the Kyocera Stadium daily from 31 May to 15 June with over 20,000 hospitality covers across the 15 day event. Add to that a sell out Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in July / August 2014 and you can see that Hockey is attracting great crowds.

A new world wide eight year TV deal with Star starting from January 2015 will further drive up visibility and widen international markets.

England Hockey’s Major Events Portfolio

Building on the success of the London Olympics and as a result of our groundbreaking bid submission to the International Hockey Federation, England Hockey has been awarded the hosting rights to three top world level events, over a three year period, culminating in the Women’s World Cup in 2018.

In addition, England Hockey had secured the rights to host the EuroHockey Championships in August 2015. The major events portfolio is outlined below.

i. EuroHockey Championships, 21-30 August 2015

ii. Women’s Champions Trophy, 18-26 June 2016

iii. Men’s World League Semi-Final, 12-23 July 2017

iv. Women’s World Cup, 07-21 July 2018

All these events will be hosted at our brand new Olympic Legacy facility the Lee Valley Hockey & Tennis Centre (LVHTC) on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park which was opened on 17 June 2104.

The venue has 3,000 permanent seats and has been designed with the aim of increasing the capacity up to 12,000 for major events.
