Six reasons to come to the Super 6s

Indoor final set for action

The weather is changing; the days are getting colder which means there’s not long until hockey heads indoors! Tickets are now on sale to one of the fans’ favourite events in our hockey calendar, the Super 6s Finals on 29 January. As always, it promises to be a perfect antidote to the winter blues with some sizzling hockey sure to be on offer.

We’ve picked out six reasons why we think you should come to the Super 6s. Read on to find out what they are!

1. It’s one of the most sociable events in the calendar.

Fancy dress, big groups of supporters from all the teams playing as well as a huge following of interested neutrals. The gathering of hockey fans at the SSE Arena, Wembley for the Super 6s is always impressive. Colourful, eccentric, noisy, enthusiastic and making full use of the refreshment facilities on offer, this is a group you’ll want to be part of!

2. It’s indoors!
Hands up if you’ve bought a poncho or an umbrella at an outdoor event? Hands up if you’ve ever been caught out by an unseasonable monsoon by the side of the hockey pitch? No such concerns here. It’s all indoors so you can sit back and enjoy cheering your team on without worrying about those nasty rainclouds gathering overhead.

3. Goals, goals goals.
The great thing about indoor is that there is rarely a shortage of goalmouth action. The qualifying stage of the Super 6s last year yielded 650 goals across 72 games (men’s and women’s). That’s an average of just over nine goals a game. Finals day was pretty action packed, too, 41 goals across six games, means almost seven goals a game.

4. There aren't many more dramatic events.
Do you recall Reading playing with no goalkeeper for the entire second half, throwing everything at Canterbury to try and win a place in the final? Who remembers Malou Pheninckx's heroics in last year's women's final for East Grinstead? Can anyone top David Condon's goalscoring skills in the men's final? So many dramatic moments over the course of the day, it really is an event to keep you on the edge of your seat throughout.

5. A chance to welcome our Olympic Heroes home.
We all loved watching the Great Britain women bring home the gold from Rio this summer. Plenty of those Olympic stars will be in attendance throughout the day. You might get to show them your Hollie Webb celebration or your Crista Cullen battle scars or even pose for a photograph with your favourite players.

6. Value for money.

Your ticket will mean you get to watch a SUPER 6 full games of indoor hockey over the course of the day. With the drama of both men’s and women’s semi-finals packed into the earlier matches followed by the grand finale where the last teams standing fight it out to be crowned champions this is an action packed day that is well worth the price of entry!
