Team Up at Regent's Park

Team Up in Regent's Park

England Hockey's Sabbie Heesh and Suzy Petty joined other international stars to continue inspiring young girls as part of the Team Up initiative.

Heesh and Petty alongside England cricketers Anya Shrubsole and Jenny Gunn and netball's Georgie Fisher ran a fused cricket-hockey-netball training session at Regent's Park for pupils of John Warner School.

The school have achieved the gold level within the Team Up scheme and were rewarded with a tour to Lord's Cricket Ground before the session.

Sabbie Heesh said: "When I was at school I tried all sports, mainly team ones though as I enjoy playing with my friends. The main tip I give to youngsters is just to enjoy it.

"It is rare that us athletes get to all come together to promote one common cause. It is a very exciting time for women's team sport!!

Suzy Petty added: "I played all sorts of sports at school. I played netball and tennis but I really enjoyed hockey the most. I loved athletics and found it was really transferable to all the sports I took part in.

Launched in October 2016, TeamUp represents a three-year campaign between the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB), England Hockey and England Netball to maximise the legacy of hosting three consecutive women’s World Cups.

Over 1,000 schools across the country have now signed-up to the initiative, which offers rewards and incentives to schools related to how much girls’ team sport activity they deliver.
