England and Netherlands set for Euro Semi-Final showdown

The next instalment of the rivalry between England the Netherlands sees the sides clash in the EuroHockey Championships Semi-Finals on Thursday night!

A 10,000 strong home crowd in Amsterdam will be backing the Dutch in a repeat of the tournament’s final from 2015 which saw England triumph in a famous penalty shootout in London.

Excitement ahead of the match continues to grow and you can see all the action from the Wagener Stadium tomorrow night live on BT Sport from 7pm UK time.

England finished second in Pool B after overcoming Ireland 4-1 and Scotland 2-0, but were narrowly defeated 1-0 to Germany.

Meanwhile the Netherlands have a 100% record in the tournament having beaten Spain, Belgium and caught the eye with a 10-0 win over the Czech Republic to finish top of Pool A.

Speaking before the clash, England defender Giselle Ansley said: “We’re not going to shy away from the fact we are defending champions. It’ll be a tough semi-final but we have done it before and are looking forward to it.”

After England’s final match with Scotland, goalkeeper Maddie Hinch said: “We knew if we didn’t get frustrated and stuck to our game plan we would eventually find the back of the net. Now we are excited for what is to come.”
