Preview U16 Tier 1 Club Championship Finals

U16 Day 1 2017
This weekend Nottingham Hockey Centre will be playing host to the U16 Tier 1 Boys and Girls Championship Finals.

Eight teams have battled through the local and area rounds to this final stage which are being hosted at Boston’s ground whilst the pitch at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre is relayed ahead of this summer’s Vitality Women’s Hockey World Cup.

In the boys competition 2017 winners Cheltenham will not be returning whereas home side Beeston will be aiming to do one better than last year and claim the title. Surbiton who finished third last year also return along with Bowdon and Guildford. Norwich City, Team Bath Buccaneers, Bishop’s Stortford and Old Loughtonians make up the full complement of teams.

Surbiton girls will be going for a consecutive fifth title in Nottingham this weekend. Stourport, who finished third in 2017, also return along with Southgate. Some new names are welcomed – Bournemouth, Clifton Robinsons, Repton, Sevenoaks and Cambridge City.

We will once again have our young umpires in action developing their skills with support from many of our great senior officials.  See the squads, umpires and officials and live scores over the weekend go here.
