2018 School Games - Day Three

2018 School Games - Day Three
Girls’ Competition

England White 1-5 Ulster
Ulster secured their third win of the tournament despite falling behind to an early converted penalty corner from Elizabeth White.

However some good Ulster pressure lead to the equaliser on 28 minutes, scored by Charlotte Beggs, before they ran riot in the second half with four more goals from Olivia Mullen, Olivia Berry, Niamh McIvor and Molly Dougan.

England Red 3-0 Scotland
Goals from Rebecca Daniel, Rafaela Brandao-Lee and Orissa Welsh were enough to hand England Red their second victory of the 2018 School Games.

An important match for both started as a close affair before Daniel broke the deadlock on 18 minutes from a penalty corner.

Scotland were still in the game until the last six minutes before Brandao-Lee and Welsh assured England of the points.

Boys’ Competition

England Blue 3-2 England Red
England Blue picked up their first points of this year’s competition as they edged out England Red by a single goal.

They drew first blood as Josh Nurse converted a corner before Tom Croft-Baker equalised for Red in the 40th minute.

Seconds later William Penrose restored Blue’s lead before once again Red equalised thanks to George Holding, but Josh Rundle struck late on to claim all three points for Blue and deny the Reds a third consecutive draw.

Ulster 3-3 Scotland
Ulster ended the pool stages unbeaten thanks to another thrilling draw as they came back from 3-0 down against Scotland.

A thoroughly entertaining first quarter saw two quick fire goals from Alex Wilson and Fraser Heigh giving Scotland a two goal lead, before Heigh grabbed another to make it three shortly after.

That advantage was cut by Stephen Hamill before half-time before Troy Chambers and Oliver Kidd scored in the final two minutes to claim a stunning point.
