Team of the Week 2018: Round 3

Team of the Week
Nominations have again come in from up and down the country from the club world from teams in the north, south, east and west!

Every weekend teams can nominate their standout performers from all levels of the game for England Hockey's Team of the Week.

This week we have comebacks from major surgery, plenty of impressive performances from youngsters and an incredible 10-5 victory!

TOTW 2018 Round 3


Name: Mark Haycroft 
Club: Surbiton HC 
Nomination: Clearly inspired by his sister’s performances at the 2018 Vitality Hockey Women’s World Cup, Mark kept a clean sheet in his first Premier Division game for 14 years.


Name: Ampea Boateng 
Club: Newcastle HC
Nomination: Four years after arriving at the club as a complete novice, Ampea is now excelling in a league three tiers higher than the one he started at and was named Player of the Match for a superb defensive display
Name: Mia Dewing 
Club: Spalding HC 
Nomination: In her first first full game for the W1s in 13 years, Mia was named Player of the Match after a performance in which she was calm in defence as well as having great tackling and distribution. This is also Mia’s second appearance in Team of the Week having been picked as a midfielder last season.

Name: Shannon Leering
Club: Coventry & North Warwickshire HC 
Nomination: For the second week in a row a member of the Leering family makes the list! This time it’s Shannon, a forward who stepped into defence for a second consecutive game to save the team on a number of occasions and show that attackers can actually tackle!


Name: Ellise Edmonds 
Club: Gosport HC
Nomination: Ellise was named Player of the Match in only her second ever game this weekend as she showed superb effort and resilience against tough opposition. Furthermore, she only picked up a stick for the first time two months ago!

Name: Emily Sullivan Lee
Club: Chertsey Thames Valley HC
Nomination: Despite the torrential rain at the weekend and being just 14-years-old, Emily scored for the third league game in a row as well as providing an assist.

Name: Kendall Coleman
Club: Southend & Benfleet HC
Nomination: Kendall really stepped up when needed this weekend, scoring two goals to secure a 3-3 draw for a team with only 11 players available. All while with a broken hand as well!


Name: Ryan Kerr 
Club: Whitley Bay & Tynemouth HC
Nomination: Having had open heart surgery just 100 days ago, Ryan scored on debut for his new club just weeks after also completing the Great North Run! Fantastic to hear your recovery is going so well Ryan.

Name: James Marks 
Club: Nottingham HC
Nomination: After receiving three separate nominations we felt we had to put James in the team as he scored a five minute hat-trick (his second in as many games) to turn 2-1 half-time deficit into 6-3 win. Clearly James’ team-mates were very grateful for his efforts! 

Name: Sarah Parkinson-Mills
Club: Stourport HC
Nomination: Sarah scored her 100th National League goal in a 3-0 win over Reading to ensure reigning Conference West champions Stourport maintained their 100% start to the season

Name: Brennan Alexander-Parker 
Club: Cambridge City HC 
Nomination: Brennan was the standout performer in a chaotic 10-5 win over Richmond in the Conference East, finding the net four times with some clinical finishing while also working hard off the ball.
