Team of the Week

Nominations have again come in from up and down the country in the club world from teams in the north, south, east and west!

Every weekend teams can nominate their standout performers from all levels of the game for England Hockey's Team of the Week.

Name: Oliver McTurk
Club: Windermere HC
Nomination: Olly stepped up for the first team this weekend and had a phenomenal game! Made save after save and helped Windermere secure a 3-1 victory.


Name: David Freeman
Club: Crawley HC
Nomination:  David played his first game back for a while and put in a very solid defensive display and made an assist to help Crawley to a 2-1 win.

Name: Anna McBurney
Club: Neston HC
Nomination: Anna, 16, played for the 1st XI in the North Prem away in Yorkshire after a lacrosse tournament in Cheshire in the morning. On Sunday she made the trip to Staffordshire for U18s and bagged herself four goals from centre half and was named player of the match!

Name: Laura Unsworth
Club: East Grinstead
Nomination: Laura helped guide East Grinstead to a 5-0 win over Canterbury, working to claim a clean sheet while also getting on the scoresheet in the process! 


Name: Katie Spooner
Club: City of Portsmouth
Nomination: Katie worked incredibly hard showing true grit and determination. She picked up an injury unfortunately and we wish her a speedy recovery! 

Name: Matthew Marsh
Club: Preston Hockey Club
Nomination: Matthew rushed out of Manchester Airport at 11am after a nine hour flight to play at 1pm. Matthew then went on to score a crucial last-minute goal to save a point in a tight 3-3 draw.

Name: Heather Markland
Club: Stourport HC
Nomination: Heather scored all six goals from centre midfield as her team won 6-2! Not bad for a 16-year-old! Well done Heather!

Name: Sarah Jones
Club: Holcombe HC
Nomination: Sarah marked her call up to the GB squad for the Champions Trophy with a strong performance for her club, getting on the scoresheet as Holcombe won 5-1 at the University of Birmingham.


Name: Claire Thomas
Club: Clifton Robinsons
Nomination: Claire took the armband and captained her side to a 4-1 victory over Bowdon Hightown scoring a hat-trick!

Name: Grace Gravell- Shefford
Club: Sandy Hockey Club
Nomination: 14-year-old Grace scored two amazing goals to secure a win for her newly promoted team. She then went on to play in goal for the 3rd team who are currently bottom of the table and faced top of the table. She made numerous saves and the team narrowly lost 1-0 in the last few minutes of the game! 

Name: Doug McLeod
Club: Cambridge City
Nomination: Doug got a late call-up to the 4th XI and scored in his first game for the team since undergoing two knee operations. This was his first game for seven years!
