How did Bowdon get to the Finals?
Last year’s Jaffa Super 6s champions eased to top spot in the group, winning six of their final seven games in the Women’s Premier Division.

Their defence did get off to a shaky start as they lost their opener to Leicester in a repeat of the 2018 final but soon got into their groove, recording comprehensive victories over East Grinstead (7-3) and Beeston (9-3) on the final day of qualification.

Who will they play in the semi-final?
Bowdon will face Buckingham in the day’s opening game at 10:30, having beaten them 2-1 in qualification courtesy of goals from Sally Walton and Charlene Mason.

Qualification goalscorers
Sally Walton (18), Tina Cullen (8), Charlene Mason (7), Kayleigh Maw, Lucy McNaught, Michelle Liptrot, Julie Whiting (all 1)

Players to watch
The aforementioned Walton – an Olympic bronze medallist at London 2012 – was in prolific form during qualification, finishing as the competition’s top goalscorer. She was particularly deadly from set pieces – converting 13 corners and one stroke – so expect her to be taking full advantage of these at the Finals.

Bowdon are also likely to be bringing plenty of experience with them as many of the side who won last year’s event featured during qualification, including Sam Quek, Kirsty Mackay and Tina Cullen.

Did you know?
Bowdon are the only women’s team to reach the final four in each tournament since our indoor hockey tournament reverted back to six-a-side for the 2015-16 season. That comes after they also won the final Hockey 5s tournament the year before.
