TOTW 2018/19 Round 13

Goalkeeper

Name: Jess Hughes
Club: Oxford Hawks HC
Nomination: Despite having troubles with sciatica and a strapped shoulder, Jess drove all the way down from Sheffield to play in her side's game. Ultimately they lost 1-0 but it would have been many more without her gutsy performance - a deserved Player of the Match!

Defence

Name: Emily Mallaband
Club: Stone HC
Nomination: In her first league game since giving birth, Emily excelled at left back despite it being the first time she's played there to the extent that she was named Player of the Match. Welcome back Emily!

Name: Alfie Weaver
Club: Harrogate HC
Nomination: With his side losing 3-0 with 20 minutes remaining, Alfie stepped up to the played and scored a hat-trick of corners - including the winner - to ensure a remarkable 4-3 victory.

Name: Frankie Mayes
Club: Gloucester City HC
Nomination: We received an unprecedented four nominations for Frankie so we felt like we had no choice but to include her! She had a brilliant game too, stepping into defence (she is normally a midfielder) due to a player shortage and performing brilliantly while also bagging herself a goal.

Midfield

Name: Brendan MacCaoilte
Club: Crawley HC
Nomination: Captain Brendan led from the front this week, notching a stunning hat-trick to keep his side top of the league while also making a great save on the line.

Name: Alex Makepeace
Club: Yardley HC
Nomination: A wonderful piece of skill was enough for Alex to make the team this week. With the final touch of the game he produced a stunning reverse dink over the 'keeper to secure a 2-1 victory. Here's someone who clearly thrives under pressure!

Name: Bethan Isherwood
Club: Havering HC
Nomination: Another returnee to the sport, Bethan's first game after a season and a half away from the game was capped off with a goal. Here's hoping it's the first of many.

Attack

Name: Jolie Lomas
Club: Alderley Edge HC
Nomination: Despite claiming 'I'm not as good on the left', Jolie scored four goals in a 9-0 win at the weekend, including a superb hit from a corner. Not bad for a player who hasn't done her GCSEs yet!

Name: Chris Bell
Club: Belper HC
Nomination: Goal machine Chris notched his third hat-trick in four games at the weekend and continues to prove an inspiration to the younger forwards in his team.

Name: Hannah Shaw
Club: Gillingham HC (Dorset)
Nomination: Hannah is another continuing to rake in the goals at the moment as her double at the weekend took her tally for the season to 28 already. Can she make 50 by the end of the year?

Name: Nia Hughes
Club: Chester HC
Nomination: A late winner from Nia saw her Chester side come back from behind and secure a hard fought win over Ben Rhydding to stretch their unbeaten run to 10 games.
