Back at the end of March Wisbech Town Hockey Club saw 40 year three Peckover students playing hockey with their teachers Miss Bourlet and Miss Pettit.

Volunteer coaches from Wisbech Town Hockey club have been working with the school and Hockey Futures outreach programme since June 2018 to provide opportunities for more children in the local community to play hockey.

"Since June 2018 in conjunction with England Hockey and Hockey Futures WTHC has been out in the community delivering coaching to both Peckover School and Thomas Clarkson Academy." Kim Speed - Wisbech Town HC club member

Wisbech Town Hockey Club have been working hard to make sure that hockey is available to everyone and have been working closely with schools to help increase participation with plans to run a tournament in July. Wisbech and Hockey Futures saw great success as the Wisbech Town Hockey Club Annual Awards Dinner 2019 when three of their players won awards.

  • Josh Watson; Men’s fourth team player of the season
  • Oliwia Bolka; Ladies third team player of the season and top goal scorer in the ladies’ section!
  • Oliwia Bolka; most improved young player ladies’ section
  • Ciaran Lowe; most improved young player men’s section

Both Oliwia and Josh first picked up a hockey stick last summer when Wisbech Town Hockey and Cricket club started to work with England Hockey’s Andrew Dale, Sue from Hockey Futures, TCA and another local school, Peckover Primary, to increase participation in hockey.

Amazing news Wisbech Town HC, keep up the hard work!
