England Storm to Convincing Victories

Both England's men and women registered opening night victories over Australia at the International Indoor Tri-Nations in Eastleigh last night.

In front of a near full house at Fleming Park the women got the show on the road with a 5-3 victory thanks to goals from Captain Sally Walton, Kerry Williams, Charlottle Hartley and Beckie Herbert's brace.  In reply, Australia's captain Melissa Simpson netted herself a brace to go joint top of the scoring charts while teammate Kylie Smith also bagged a goal.

In the men's competition, England ran out 5-2 winners over Australia.  A lightening start put England 3-0 up with ten minutes gone as Richard Alexander added to Ashley Jackson's early brace.  David Francis pulled one back for Australia before the break but two goals in as many minutes from Richard Lane and Jonty Clarke extinguished Australia's hopes of a comeback althogh Michael Hogan did bring the scores closer with a goal 11 minutes from time.

With Scotland joining the party today, starting with matches against Australia at 1000 (women) and 1100 (men) things are really getting going.
