Futures Cup 2020 Team Manager applications open!
England Hockey are recruiting for Team Managers to be a part of Futures Cup 2020! The Team Manager role is critical in ensuring the player experience is positive, safe and well managed. They will be responsible for all the players in their squad for the duration of the event and will manage all communication in the lead up to and on event between the England Hockey Event Lead and squad.

Futures Cup is the pinnacle of the Player Pathway for both boys and girls at U15 and U17 age groups. It is a four-day residential competition in which regional teams from England, Scotland and Wales will compete against each other. The event aims to emulate an International style competition and includes a rest day and education programme to help support player development in a high intensity and pressurised tournament environment.

Sam Tea took on the role of Team Manager of the Saxon Tigers U17 Boys for the first time at Futures Cup 2019 and gave an insight into the experience:

“As an Educational professional, I was delighted to be the Saxon Tigers U17 Boys Manager for Futures Cup in 2019. This was an amazing opportunity for me as a coach, teacher and hockey enthusiast to be immersed in an environment with like-minded individuals that made up an amazing team, to help support and deliver what was a pinnacle event for young committed future potential hockey professionals.

“The tournament was played at a high intensity, competitive and each player was highly focused and committed in developing themselves on and off the pitch.

“The whole environment was created with the player in mind to help support them as individuals in all aspects of their playing career. I would highly recommend being part of the tournament whether it be from a Coach or Manager’s perspective or simply a spectator appreciating the love for the game.”

Futures Cup will take place at Oaklands College, St Albans between Wednesday 26 and Saturday 29 August 2020.
