Team of the Week - Round 6

Team of the week 2019/20
Some top performances in this week's team!

Name: Georgie Haines-Woodhouse
Club: Oxford HC
Nomination: Georgie stepped up after years of horrific injuries, including rupturing her ACL last year, to play outstandingly in goal today. She made several incredible saves to keep Oxford in the game, including an amazing one from a penalty corner.

Name: Georgia Mann
Club: Bicester HC
Nomination: Georgia had an absolutely phenomenal game playing in a new position. She intercepted numerous balls through the middle, helped to keep the teams shape by talking to players and counter attacked quickly. She showcased exceptional tackles, brilliant composure and covered a ridiculous amount of pitch. It was a fantastic display from a young player.

Name: Olivia Hall
Club: Brooklands Poynton HC
Nomination: Olivia is only 15 and produced an outstanding performance this weekend playing out of position and four divisions higher than she normally would. She fitted in seamlessly and put in a solid performance to help secure three points.

Name: Sam Mairs
Club: Bowdon Hightown HC
Nomination: Sam gave an exemplary performance, diving in to make tackles, clearing the ball off the keeper’s pads and driving it forward to set up attacking moves.

Name: Robynne Plant
Club: Pendle Forest HC
Nomination: Robynne had an exceptional weekend, working hard to drive the team forward but also supporting the defence. She was instrumental throughout the game for keeping the opposition at bay and on the back foot with her attacking play and outstanding ball distribution.

Name: Harriet Mack
Club: Isle of Wight HC
Nomination: Harriet was a demon on the left this week, penetrating into the circle on multiple occasions. She produced some beautiful crosses too, one of which resulted in an outstanding goal.

Name: Anthony Allison
Club: Scarborough HC
Nomination: Anthony had an incredible weekend, scoring nine goals and providing two assists in just over an hour on the pitch.

Anthony Allison

Name: Jason Spring
Club: Ipswich Cranes HC
Nomination: Captain Jason led his side with aplomb, scoring a hat-trick that included a brilliant flick. He ran his socks off throughout the game, tracking back to help the defence out in the last 10 minutes to keep the opposition at bay. And that came after he had his coach’s hat on and supported other teams earlier in the day. A true club hero!

Name: Mark Russell
Club: Camberley & Farnborough Hockey Club
Nomination: Mark broke his goal scoring dry spell this weekend by putting four past the opposition’s goalkeeper. That included two first-time sweeps into the roof of the net, an audacious lob from top of the circle and deflection from a wicked midfield pass. However his highlight has to be his reverse stick shot; it may have hit the post but normally they go four yards backwards!

Name: Alison Langham
Club: Oxted HC
Nomination: Alison stepped up when her club needed her this weekend. She started the match by scoring twice before finishing the game in goal – donning the pads when the regular goalkeeper was injured – and stopped the opposition scoring.

Name: Rob Barton
Club: Cambridge South HC
Nomination: Veteran Rob scored his 400th and 401st goals for Cambridge South Men's 5th XI. Having first played for the club in 2001, this was his 430th appearance. A proper goal machine.
