Team of the Week - Round 13

Team of the week 2019/20
Another tough week for us with over 40 people sending us nominations for our starting XI.

Name: Samuel Price
Club: Gosport HC
Nomination: Samuel put in an incredible performance at the age of just 14. He demonstrated cat like reflexes and incredible domination of his D to absorb wave after wave of Alton attacks. Multiple point-blank stops, lightning reflex saves and numerous occasions where after having saved a shot was quick enough to save the rebound. Samuel represents everything that hockey is about, true grit, determination and a willingness to develop week in and week out.

Sam Price

Name: Claire Pye

Nomination: Kerry stepped back onto the pitch after a short break for maternity and she absolutely smashed it for a full 70 minutes. Not only was it her first game back, but she was celebrating her birthday too! She was so solid at the back it was like she had never been out. She showed great link play down right wing and transfers around the back in a superb performance.

Nomination: Crawley Men’s 4s made the trip down to sunny Eastbourne with only 10 men which soon went down to nine due to injury. Just when you thought it wasn't going to be Crawley’s day, the evergreen David Brown, who earlier was recounting a yesteryear season, got on the scoresheet! David ran in to the opposition’s D from right midfield and launched a scintillating screamer into the top-left corner. Classy and as humble as ever.

Club: Bromley & Beckenham HC
Nomination: Liz performed an amazing double save off the line against league leaders Barnes helping the team and securing a 2-2 draw. And all on her birthday too! -

Name: Matt Lucas

Nomination: Matt was called up at 4.30pm on Friday, but didn’t get the message until midnight, at 5.30am the captain responded with a thankful message that Matt could play. Matt had been at a good friend’s funeral in Skegness, he left at 7.30am for a home game starting at 11.30am and got there in the nick of time after a 3.5 hour drive. Top Lad!
