European Cup Trophy Tour Announced

This weekend, hockey’s European Cup will set off on a Trophy Tour in celebration of England winning the men’s EuroHockey Nations Championships for the very first time.

The Trophy Tour, which will coincide with the start of the England Hockey League season, will be taken on a tour of men’s premier division grounds around the country over the next couple of months with phase two of the tour seeing the trophy on display at key England Hockey events later in the year and into 2010.

Speaking ahead of the Trophy Tour, England Hockey’s Commercial and Membership Director Mark Armitage said, “The team’s victory in the Netherlands was England’s best result in an international tournament in nearly 90 years and the team are delighted to be able to share that success with their clubs, team mates and local supporters.

“It’s a great opportunity for young hockey players in particular to come and see the Trophy and watch Gold medal winners in action and hopefully that will inspire them to success in their own hockey careers.”

In total, seven men’s premier division clubs will host the trophy with East Grinstead, Surbiton, Cannock, Bowdon, Loughborough Students and Beeston following Reading on the tour.
