Women’s Cup Round Three Preview

The Third Round of the Women’s Cup takes place this weekend, with teams looking to secure a place in the last eight of the competition.

The shock of the last round came in the Midlands as Sutton Coldfield defeated England Hockey League (EHL) team Cannock 6-4. They will now hope to continue their giant killing as they travel to Cheshire to take on Brooklands Poynton.

2009 winners Bowdon Hightown face a tricky tie as they travel to North Regional Premier side Sheffield Hallam, with Beeston also facing a tricky tie as they travel to EHL Premier team University of Birmingham. Olton & WW and Reading, who both made it through comfortably in the last round, face teams from the West in Round Three as Olton & WW host Firebrands, and Reading travel to Team Bath Buccaneers. Hampstead & Westminster look to keep up their impressive cup run as they also travel to the West to face Clifton from the EHL Premier.

Surbiton went top of the EHL Conference East last weekend and they hope to make the last eight as they travel to Maidstone, who currently sit top of the East Regional Premier League. The final game of the round comes from North Buckinghamshire in the battle of the EHL Conferences as Chelmsford (EHL East) travel to Buckingham who currently occupy top position in the EHL Conference West.
