super sixes qualifiers kick off this weekend

super sixes 180

Some giant killing got underway early on day one with newcomers to the womens super sixes qualifiers, Reading taking three points from long established Bowdon. Reading had the pleasure of GB International Alex Danson making her indoor debut for the club, along side former Dutch International and Olympic Silver Medalist Chantal de Bruijn.

A similar fate nearly came in the mens league, when St Albans twice went up against East Grinstead and held them to a draw at half time, although EG awoke from their slumber to take the game 7-3.

Back in Perdiswell with the women, Ipswich lost to Trojans 6-1, and also went down 7-2 to Beccy Herbert's Leicester. Slough with Ashleigh Ball and Nicola White took Reading down 2 goals to nil, and Chelmsford joined their east rivals with two defeats at the hands of EuroCanterbury and Sutton Coldfield.
EuroCanterbury saw off Trojans by 8 goals to 1.

The UWE  crowd saw Old Loughts defeat Canterbury in a 9-7 goalfest. Reading won one drew one today, v Surbiton 9-3, and 5-5 v Loughborough Students. GB Internationals were a plenty in these games, with Richard Mantell, Simon Mantell, Ian Mackay, Nick Brothers, James Tindall, Richard Alexander, Richard Smith, David Condon and Nick Catlin to name but a few.

The big Reading game must have taken something out of the Students, as they were well defeated 10-2 by EG, with an all star team including GB players Ashley Jackson, Barry Middleton, Niall Stott and Darren Cheesman.
