What does it cost to be on the DBS Update Service?
This depends on whether the DBS certificate that you have on the DBS Update Service is for a role that is voluntary or not.
If the certificate is for a role that is voluntary (you are not being paid), you will not be charged to use the DBS Update Service.
If the certificate is for a role that is non-voluntary (you are being paid), then you will be charged £13 a year to use the DBS Update Service.
When you add a certificate to the DBS Update Service for the first time, you will be asked if you wish to make the payment by an annual standing order or to pay annually (all payments to the DBS Update Service are made online via credit or debit card). If you choose the latter option and miss a payment, you will no longer have access to the Update Service and will need to start a new DBS check through your club.
Status checks, whether for volunteers or not, are always free.
