Ambassador for Ladies Hockey – OMT HOCKEY CLUB
Old Merchant Taylors HC Northwood/Watford, UKOld Merchant Taylors’ Hockey Club (OMTHC) seeks a visionary and inspirational Ambassador to help grow its Ladies section and launch a junior girl’s section. The role combines hockey leadership and promotion with broader club development, outreach, and promotion in the community.
OMT HC is based at Merchant Taylors’ School, Northwood, and serves 200+ members across Men’s, Women’s, and Junior sections. We are seeking to expand both our Juniors’ and our Women’s/Girls’ sections, and build on an Outreach programme that has been run successfully in several local schools last season.
Merchant Taylors is home to three astroturf pitches, a short corner practice area and a state-of-the-art clubhouse, making it a world class facility for any hockey club.
Job Title: Ambassador of Ladies Hockey
Responsible for: Promotion of Ladies Hockey into the local community, recruitment of Ladies members, launching a Girls Junior section, supporting the Outreach programme
Responsible to: OMTHC Management Committee (HCMC), working alongside the Director of Hockey and the Ladies Section Head
Hours of Pay: Negotiable with the role, but initial guidelines are:
- 5 hrs week/Season (30 weeks)
- 3 hrs a week/Off-season (20 weeks)
MAIN DUTIES:
To strengthen and grow the Ladies and Girls sections of the OMT Hockey Club through:
1. Promotion of Ladies Hockey into the local community
a. Act as a figurehead for OMT HC Ladies, promoting the club in the local community through events and marketing campaigns
b. Promote hockey as a sport all age groups and abilities to encourage them to take-up hockey, e.g. supporting Back-to-Hockey programmes
2. Recruitment of Ladies members
a. Work with the Marketing and Recruitment Officer of the club to recruit new players for the Ladies section
b. Help with the growth of the Ladies section to establish new teams
c. Strengthen the playing and training culture of the Ladies section, supporting the coaches in getting the Ladies teams successful in their leagues
3. Launching a Girls Junior section:
a. Launch and build a Girls Junior section to complement the existing Boys section
b. Support the Junor section coaches in establishing teams at appropriate age groups e.g. U16, U14 etc, with regular training and matches
4. Supporting the Outreach programme
a. Support the Junior section in their Outreach programme, through establishment of contacts into local girls schools (private and state)
b. Attend occasional outreach coaching / mentoring sessions
Qualifications & Skills
Safeguarding, First Aid, Enhanced DBS.
Proven experience in growing participation (especially women’s and junior hockey).
Elite hockey (international/national league) experience desirable.
Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
Excellent coaching and people skills
