Burgess Hill Women's 1st XI Coach

Burgess Hill Hockey Club is one of Sussex’s leading women’s hockey clubs, fielding five adult teams competing across the South East Hockey leagues alongside a thriving junior section.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious Performance Coach to lead our Ladies’ 1st XI and drive the development of our performance team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with ambitious players in a club that values player development, teamwork and long-term success.

The Role

The successful candidate will lead the coaching of the Ladies’ 1st XI while overseeing weekly training for both the 1st and 2nd XIs.

The role is designed to create a consistent playing philosophy across our top two teams, helping players develop and progress while ensuring a strong pathway into the 1st XI.

Working closely with team captains and the Ladies’ Committee, you will play a key role in shaping the future of performance hockey at Burgess Hill Hockey Club along with introduction and pathway of progression of youngsters into the adult teams from our thriving juniors.

Responsibilities

* Plan and deliver a high-quality weekly training programme for the Ladies’ 1st and 2nd XIs.

* Coach the Ladies’ 1st XI during Saturday league fixtures.

* Work with the 1st XI captain on team selection, team strategy and match preparation.

* Support the development of 2nd XI players aspiring to play 1st team hockey.

* Develop a clear and consistent playing style across the performance squads.

* Provide constructive feedback to players to support their development.

* Work collaboratively with volunteer coaches, captains and the Ladies’ Committee.

* Help foster an ambitious, inclusive and enjoyable team environment.

* Is organised, reliable and an excellent communicator.

* Enjoys working within a volunteer-led club.

* Shares our ambition to continue developing one of the strongest women’s sections in Sussex.

Commitment

* One evening training session each week.

* Saturday coaching with the Ladies’ 1st XI throughout the season.

* Occasional planning meetings with captains and the Ladies’ Committee.
