Formby Hockey Club is seeking a dedicated and ambitious Men’s 1st Team Coach to lead our senior performance squad as they compete in the 2026/27 North West Open – Men’s Division 1. The ideal candidate will bring energy, structure, and a player‑centred approach, helping both senior players and talented young athletes thrive within a positive and competitive environment. There is also an opportunity to become involved with the junior section of the club for those interested in broader coaching responsibilities and player development pathways.
Key Responsibilities:
· Plan and deliver weekly Men’s 1st Team training sessions every Tuesday evening, 7–9pm.
· Attend and lead all Men’s 1st Team fixtures throughout the season.
· Foster a positive, supportive, and ambitious environment, particularly for young players transitioning into senior hockey.
· Support player development through clear feedback, structured progression, and appropriate challenge.
· Collaborate with club coaches, captains, and committee members to align coaching with club values and long‑term development goals.
· Optional: Contribute to the junior coaching programme, supporting the development of players across the club pathway.
Desirable Qualifications & Requirements:
· Applicants are welcome even if they do not currently hold all qualifications. The successful candidate should be willing to complete them before the start of the season, with club support available.
· England Hockey Level 2 Coaching Certificate (or equivalent).
· Safeguarding qualification (or willingness to complete).
· First Aid qualification (or willingness to complete).
· Experience coaching senior, performance, or pathway‑level hockey.
· Strong communication skills and the ability to motivate players of all ages.

Compensation:
This is a paid position, with the final rate dependent on the scope of responsibilities (e.g., senior coaching only, or senior + junior involvement).
