About the Club

Scarborough Hockey Club is looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Head Coach for the 2025/26 season and beyond. Scarborough Hockey Club was established in 1907 and is a friendly club located on the coast of North Yorkshire. 

We have two men's teams, one women’s team, and a Junior section that has grown significantly since re-launching last season, now comprising over 50 members aged 5-16

Our competitive teams play in the Yorkshire North East Hockey League
Men’s 1s will be playing in YNE Yorkshire Men’s Division 1
Women’s 1s will be playing in the YNE Yorkshire Men’s Division 1
Men’s 2s will be playing in the YNE Moor Men's Division 1

About the role

You'll set the coaching strategy, create session plans, lead on selection for weekend fixtures and provide support to volunteer coaches.

We are seeking a talented Head Coach to lead our Men’s, Women’s and Juniors sections. This however is flexible and we would consider applicants only looking at coaching specific sections. For example; just the Men’s section or only the competitive teams or just the Juniors section. 

Our training programme currently runs as Women’s Training (Tuesday evenings, 7:15pm-8:45pm), Men’s Training (Wednesday Evenings, 7:15pm-8:45pm) and Junior Sessions (Wednesday Evenings, 6pm-7pm). This however could be flexible to change subject to applicants availability. 

About you

To have or be willing to complete with club funding: 

● Relevant First Aid Certificate, Safeguarding Certificate, DBS Check and any other requirements set out by local authorities and Governing bodies (Required within 6 months) 

● EH Hockey Coaching Qualification at Level 2 or higher (Essential) 

● You'll be friendly, personable, and able to communicate effectively with players, staff and committee members. 

● This is a paid position and will depend on experience discussed post application

 

Other opportunities

Alongside the minimum coaching of the training sessions during the week there will be the opportunity to coach at weekend fixtures for the competitive teams and additional training sessions and events organised with the club.
