Wapping Hockey Club is seeking an exceptional Head Coach to lead our talented Women’s 1st XI performance squad for the 2026/27 season and beyond. After two competitive seasons in National League Conference East, we find ourselves back in the London Premier Division for the upcoming season, motivated to progress and compete for promotion back to the National League. 

We are looking for a coach with fresh ideas, high standards, and elite-level experience to unlock the full potential of our squad and drive us back to national level.

About the Club

Wapping HC is one of the largest, most vibrant, and progressive hockey clubs in the UK, boasting 18 adult teams (9 Men’s and 9 Women’s) alongside a growing youth section.

The top end of our club enjoys elite-level training and match-day environments, playing and hosting matches at Lee Valley Hockey & Tennis Centre. Our Men’s 1st XI currently compete in the London Premier Division and our Women’s 1st XI are keen to regain National League status under new leadership.

The Role

We are looking for a coach who can drive high performance, build a great team buzz, and get the absolute best out of our close-knit team of top-tier players.

You will lead the tactical, physical, and mental preparation of the Women’s 1st XI. You will be expected to lead twice-weekly training sessions and be available to coach on Saturday match days.

Maintaining a positive, cohesive, and highly motivated squad culture that balances elite execution with a great team spirit is important to us. As the leader of our flagship women's team, you will act as a key ambassador for Wapping HC, expected to collaborate with other club coaches to set the tone, drive performance expectations across the wider women's section, and champion a development pathway for the club’s top talent.

A competitive financial package is available, dependent on experience and qualifications.

What We Are Looking For:

• A proven track record of coaching at an elite / performance level (National League or Premier Division equivalent), OR significant high-level playing experience.
• Minimum EH Sessional Coach / Level 2 qualification (or equivalent experience).
• Superb communication and leadership skills - someone who can inspire players and foster a strong team dynamic.
