There’s a change at the top Open/Men’s Division One North with Bowdon taking over top spot. Previous leaders Repton were beaten 4-2 at Nottingham University on Saturday evening. Luke Holland put Nottingham two up before two Si Claris goals levelled things up. However, Nottingham went on to score twice either end of the last ten minutes through George Sitch and Jack Webb to condemn Repton to their first defeat of the season. Bowdon took advantage on Sunday with a 5-1 win at bottom of the table Olton & West Warwicks. Carlos Dolado-Hollyman scored twice in the win and Bowdon now lead Repton on goal difference. Samule Dowds also netted a brace for Loughborough Students who stay in touch with the top two after a 4-2 win over Harborne. At the other end of the table Deeside Ramblers in ninth made up ground on the teams above them beating Birmingham University 2-1 to move to 11 points. Birmingham are sixth on 15 points and not yet safe. Durham University and Timperley sit seventh and eighth and they played out a 3-3 draw, Durham coming from 3-0 down to snatch a point thanks to a last gasp Matthew Hughson corner.
Exeter University are within touching distance of the Division One South title, nine points clear with three games to go. They won 4-1 at Old Loughtonians including two goals for Harry Markham. Guildford and Sevenoaks remain a distant second and third after convincing wins. Sevenoaks beat Indian Gymkhana 5-2 and Guildford won 6-1 at Havant who are now ninth. Surbiton 2s move out of the bottom two with a third successive win, 3-1 at Canterbury, who stay bottom. Richmond edged closer to safety with a point from their 4-4 draw at local rivals Teddington.
It was a good weekend for Conference North leaders Leeds who move three points clear at the top. Their closest rivals Neston were held to a 2-2 draw at home to Sheffield on Saturday whilst Leeds won 4-0 at Newcastle University on Sunday with George Godwin scoring twice. Losses for the bottom two, Oxton and Ben Rhydding leave them both very close to the drop. Oxton went down 6-0 at Durham University 2s and Ben Rhydding were beaten 3-1 at home by Didsbury Northern. Lindum won 3-1 at Doncaster.
Clifton Robinsons moved closer to the Conference West title as both their nearest rivals faltered whilst they picked up three points in a 5-1 win in a town v gown battle against Bristol University. Marlow’s recent winning streak came to a halt at Cardiff & Met 2s where Freddie Mabey’s last minute corner, his second of the game tied things up at 2-2. They now trail Robbies by five points. Chichester are two points further back after a 3-2 defeat at Ashmoor. It was good day for bottom of the table Isca. Their second win of the season came as they beat Fareham 5-1 to move to within two points of them and Exeter University 2s who lost 2-0 to Team Bath Buccaneers.
The top two met in Conference East and leaders Hampstead & Westminster 2s came out on top beating Holcombe 2s 4-2 with Thies Schlueter scoring two of their goals. London Wayfarers move up to second after their 6-1 win over Bromley & Beckenham but Hampstead enjoy a five point advantage. Elsewhere action focussed on the relegation battle. Wimbledon 2s are four points adrift at the bottom after a 6-1 home defeat at the hands of Old Cranleighan. Brighton & Hove beat a relegation rival 4-3 for the second week running, this time Southgate 2s were the losers and the teams are now level on15 points. Chelmsford sit a point above them after they were beaten 4-3 at home by Spencer despite a David Agar hat-trick.
Leek remain the only unbeaten Conference team and sit four points clear at the top of Conference Midlands. They were made to work hard for a 2-1 win over Birmingham University 2s who are deep in relegation trouble. Oxford Hawks stay second after a 3-2 defeat of visiting City of Peterborough . St Albans are third thanks to their 3-1 win at Banbury. Barford Tigers won 5-2 at Stourport and are now eighth, nine points clear of their Worcestershire rivals with three games left to play. Norwich City beat Nottingham University 2s 3-0.

Buckingham’s lead at the top of Womens Division One North was cut to two points after Saturday’s games. Buckingham drew 0-0 at Sutton Coldfield, their fifth consecutive game without a win and their nearest rivals, Gloucester City, beat bottom of the table Repton 3-2. Repton stay seven points form safety after the teams just above them both also lost. Leeds in ninth were beaten 3-1 at home by Loughborough Students 2s. Olton & West Warwicks who are two points ahead of Leeds went down 3-2 at Pendle Forest. Lisa-Emma Crewe scored a crucial 69th minute winner for Pendle Forest who are now five points clear of Leeds. Ben Rhydding are a place and a point above Forest thanks to their 2-1 defeat of visiting Beeston.
Division One South leaders Teddington were beaten for only the second time this season but with nearest rivals Exeter University also losing, their advantage remains at six points. Teddington lost at home to Southgate 4-3 for whom Emma McIntyre scored twice, Exeter lost 2-0 at Reading 2s, Sophie Pettegree netted both goals. This was an important win for Southgate who are now eight points clear of the relegation places. Guildford are ninth after letting a two goal lead slip to be beaten 3-2 by visitors Holcombe. Sevenoaks moved a step closer to safety with a 2-2 draw at Bristol Firebrands. Relegated Harleston Magpies went down 4-3 at Surbiton 2s.
It as a low scoring week in Conference West with only nine goals in five tight matches. Leaders Team Bath Buccaneers only needed one goal, from Maria Gali, to secure a 1-0 at Trojans and put the Southampton side seven points behind them. Cardiff & Met stay two points off top after they won 2-1 at Cheltenham. There was more bad news for Cheltenham who drop back into the bottom two as Exeter climbed above them after a 1-0 home win over Lansdown. Clifton Robinsons 2s also moved away from the danger zone thanks to a 2-0 win at Slough who are bottom and four points from safety. Oxford University and Marlow drew 1-1.
There was no change at the top of Conference North where the top two both won. Leaders Bowdon 2s enjoyed a 3-0 home win over Didsbury Northern with Anna Walker scoring twice. Alderley Edge won 2-0 at Newcastle University, Amelie Long netting both their goals, to stay three points back, a second successive loss for Newcastle to end their own title hopes. Fylde beat Whitley Bay & Tynemouth 3-2 and Durham University 2sovercame Kirkby Stephen 3-0. In the meeting of the bottom two Sheffield came out on top, winning 3-2 against Wakefield, their first win of the season and arresting an eight match losing streak, to close the gap on eighth placed Didsbury Northern to a point.
Olivia Back scored four times for Conference Midlands leaders Leicester City in a 5-0 win at relegated Harleston Magpies 2s. What England rugby fans would give for her father Neil to be playing in the England back row now! There was more good news for Leicester as closest rivals Birmingham University 2s lost 2-1 at Cambridge University to drop to four points back. Cambridge City and Oxford Hawks faint title hopes were also both dealt a blow with narrow away defeats, 2-1 at St Albans and 1-0 at Nottingham Trent University respectively. Cannock took a big step to avoiding the drop in winning 2-1 at Stourport, to put four points between themselves and the Worcestershire team in ninth.
There’s now a three-way tie at the top of Conference East. Old Loughtonians took over pole position last week but were held to a 0-0 draw at Spencer. This allowed Hampstead & Westminster 2s and Old Georgians to draw level on points with them after wins on Saturday. Hampstead are top on goal difference, helped by a 5-1 success at home to Canterbury. OGs beat Guildford 2s 1-0. Wapping stay bottom after losing 3-1 at Wimbledon 2s. Barnes 2s who drew 2-2 at London Wayfarers, are ninth and trail Guildford 2s who are a place above them by five points. However, if Guildford 1s are relegated their 2s will also go down if teams stay as they are and the ninth placed team reprieved.
