Bowdon are all but mathematically confirmed as Open/Mens Division One North champions after the weekend’s games. With one match to play they lead Repton by three points but have a vastly superior goal difference and look set to return to the top flight after a season’s absence. Repton beat Loughborough Students 2-0 but the day before Bowdon triumphed 4-2 at Deeside Ramblers. Deeside needed the points for their battle against the drop and pulled the game back to 3-2 on 51 minutes only for Bowdon to restore the two-goal advantage via Duncan Gladwin a minute later. The loss meant Deeside needed Durham University to lose against relegated Olton & West Warwicks on Sunday to keep their chances of safety alive. However Durham won 4-3 after Olton had pulled the game back from 3-1 to 3-3 with Kristofer Watt converting a 64th minute corner for the winner. Timperley were also able to go into Sunday’s game with Birmingham University knowing that they had stayed up and they lost 6-1 to the hosts. Elsewhere Harborne and Nottingham University drew 4-4.
In Division One South, champions Exeter University beat Teddington 3-0 and second placed Guildford were 2-0 winners against Richmond, Third placed Sevenoaks were 4-3 victors in their Kent derby with Canterbury. Joe Naughalty scored twice for Sevenoaks, including a 69th minute winner, the result condemns Canterbury to relegation. Surbiton 2s won 5-0 at Havant but this game is subject to an appeal regarding player eligibility. Old Loughtonians won 4-1 at Indian Gymkhana.
There were big wins on the road for the top two in Conference North which leaves Leeds in the driving seat, three points clear of Neston with a +10 better goal difference going into the final round of games. Leeds won 7-3 at Doncaster despite a hat-trick for the home team’s Matt Gibson. James Gardner also netted three for Neston in their 6-2 win at Didsbury Northern. Walter Forsey was another hat-trick hero, in Newcastle University’s 5-3 win at relegated Oxton. This result secured Newcastle’s Conference status. Ben Rhydding are relegated following their 6-0 loss at Lindum, Ben Read the fourth player in the Division to score three. Sheffield beat Durham University 2s 2-1.
The destination of the Conference West trophy will not be known until the final weekend. Long time leaders Clifton Robinsons went down to a 3-1 defeat at third placed Chichester for whom Luke Emmett hit all three goals. Marlow, who have kept on their heels for the second half of the season now trail them by two points after a 7-0 defeat of Isca which included four goals for Callum White. Barring a seven goal margin win for Marlow at Bristol University next Sunday Robbies need a point from their trip to Ashmoor to take the title. At the foot of the table any two of the bottom four will be relegated. Fareham ended their four match losing run and moved off the bottom with a 3-1 win over Cardiff & Met 2s. Isca’s loss at Marlow sends them to the foot of the table. Sam Barnett hit a brace for Exeter University 2s in their 4-2 win over Ashmoor which moves them a point clear of Fareham and Bristol University who lost 3-1 to Team Bath Buccaneers.
Hampstead & Westminster 2s secured the Conference East title with a 7-2 win at Chelmsford. Second placed Holcombe 2s won 4-2 at Bromley & Beckenham. Old Cranleighan beat Brighton & Hove 8-1 with Maks Mumford netting a hat-trick. Chelmsford are two points and Brighton one point ahead of bottom of the table Wimbledon 2s who kept their hopes of avoiding the drop alive with a 3-2 win over Spencer. One of these teams will stay up and two will go down dependent on this Sunday’s results. Southgate 2s beat London Wayfarers 5-2.
Leek secured the Conference Midlands title after a 1-1 draw at closest rivals Oxford Hawks mean they are four points clear with a game left. Richard Cordon’s second half equaliser proved enough for Leek to earn a second successive promotion and they have one more game to try and complete an unbeaten season. Relegation matters were already settled and bottom of the table Stourport were beaten 6-3 at home by Norwich City. Ninth placed Birmingham University 2s beat Banbury 5-1. Elsewhere St Albans had their eighth draw of the season after it ended 2-2 at Nottingham University 2s. Barford Tigers beat City of Peterborough 2-1.

In Womens Division One South Teddington made it back-to-back promotions, securing the title with a 2-0 win at closest rivals Exeter University. Kayla De Waal and Mel Ball scored the goals that confirm Teddington women will play in the top flight for the first time. Elsewhere the only other unresolved issue was who would be relegated with Harleston Magpies. Guildford needed two big wins to stand a chance of avoiding this but lost 3-2 at home to Sevenoaks so they are unable to catch Southgate, who lost 1-0 at Surbiton 2s, and are relegated. Harleston were denied a first point, going down 2-1 at home to Bristol Firebrands and Holcombe beat Reading 2s, 2-1.
The Division One North title will go down to the last week with long time leaders Buckingham being overhauled by Gloucester City. Buckingham had a nine point lead going into the mid-season break but have yet to win in 2026 with a loss and six draws, their latest away at Pendle Forest which ended 2-2. Gloucester were level on points before Saturday so a 4-0 win against Ben Rhydding puts them two points clear. Bottom of the table Repton, who are already relegated, drew 2-2 with Loughborough Students 2s and the two teams above them, Leeds and Olton & West Warwicks, who potentially face the drop, both won, to mean the second relegation spot will be confirmed this week. Olton beat Sutton Coldfield 4-1 and they lead Leeds by two points after the Yorkshire side’s 2-1 win at Beeston.
The Conference West champions will also be decided in the last round of games. The top two teams Team Bath Buccaneers and Cardiff & Met both won to leave Bath two pints ahead. Bath won 4-1 at home to Lansdown whilst Cardiff ran out 4-2 winners against visiting Oxford University. At the other end of the table any of the teams in the lower half of the table could be relegated with only three points separating the teams. Cheltenham who were bottom going into Saturday threw themselves a lifeline with a 2-1 win at Clifton Robinsons 2 and trail the Bristol side who are eighth on goal difference. Slough picked up a point in their derby at Marlow, coming from two down with 15 minutes left to draw 2-2 but are now tenth on 14 points, a point behind Cheltenham and Clifton. Exeter’s recent good run was halted as they lost 3-2 at home to Trojans, they and Marlow are on 17 points.
Bowdon 2s need a point this weekend to secure the Conference North crown. They won 2-0 at Whitley Bay & Tynemouth and Alderley Edge, who trail them by three points, beat Didsbury Northern 1-0. Bottom of the table Wakefield won for the first time this season, beating Newcastle University 3-2. Wakefield and Sheffield, who lost 2-0 to Durham University 2s are on seven points, two behind Didsbury going into the last round of games and any two from these three teams will be relegated. The clean sheet means Durham’ s keeper Katherine Fricke has gone 274 minutes since she last conceded a goal. Elsewhere Fylde won 3-1 at Kirkby Stephen.
A 1-0 win over St Albans was enough for Leicester City to clinch the Conference Midlands title with a week to spare. Olivia Back scored the goal which gives them an unassailable four-point lead at the top of the table and means they return to Division One. An 8-0 win for nearest rivals Birmingham University 2s over relegated Harleston Magpies proved academic. Who will go down with Harleston will go to the wire. Two Charlotte Morgan goals helped Cambridge University to a 2-0 win in their Town v Gown battle with Cambridge City and means they are safe. Stourport are ninth with Cannock a place and a point above them. There was no change after Saturday’s games as both teams picked up a point in away draws – Cannock 3-3 at Oxford Hawks, Stourport 1-1 at Nottingham Trent University.
The destination of the Conference East trophy will go to the wire with Old Loughtonians and Old Georgians locked on 35 points whilst Hampstead & Westminster 2s challenge was extinguished. Katie MacCallum netted a brace as Loughts beat relegated Wapping 2-0. OGs left it late to get the points at home to London Wayfarers, Candice Manuel scoring on 69 minutes to give them a 1-0 win. Hampstead fell to a 1-0 loss at Guildford 2s. Guildford are eighth but with their first team relegated into the Division, will be demoted. Barnes 2s who would be the reprieved team won 2-1 at Canterbury but could finish above Guildford on merit if they beat them next week. Spencer won 5-1 at Wimbledon 2s with Flora Brett hitting a hat-trick.
