Open/Men's EHL
Repton are top of Open/Mens Division One North going into the break but saw their lead at the top cut to a point. Second-placed Bowdon beat Birmingham University 3-0 on Saturday evening before Repton were held to a 2-2 draw by Durham University on Sunday. James Sookias earned Repton a point with a 62nd minute equaliser, Ben Jansen scoring two first half goals for the visitors. Loughborough Students remain third but lost further ground after a 2-1 home defeat by Nottingham University. Timperley enjoyed a 4-1 win in their Cheshire derby with Deeside Ramblers. They go three points clear of the bottom two, Deeside in tenth and Olton & West Warwicks, in ninth. Olton lost the Birmingham derby 4-1 to visitors Harborne.
Exeter University also saw their advantage at the top of Division One South reduced to a point. Exeter lost 4-3 at Sevenoaks, the Kent side holding on after leading 4-1 at the break, and they stay third but now just two points behind the losers. Guildford in second needed a 69th minute Chris Way corner to see off bottom of the table Surbiton 2s, 2-1. Indian Gymkhana were beaten 3-2 at home by Richmond. Gymkhana fought back from 2-0 down to level only for Hamish Imrie to net a winner with four minutes to go. Oliver MacIntyre converted a hat-trick of corners in Old Loughtonians 7-3 win at Canterbury. Second-bottom Havant earned a useful point in a 3-3 draw with Teddington, with Viacheslav Paziuk scoring twice for the Hampshire side.
Clifton Robinsons extended their lead at the top of Conference West to five points. Harry Skinner scored twice against his former club Isca in a 4-2 win down the M5. Isca stay bottom. Chichester, who were second before the weekend, were held to a 1-1 draw at Fareham in the South Coast derby. Karl Wallace netted a 69th minute equaliser for the home team. Newcomers Marlow move up to second after beating Team Bath Buccaneers 4-3 away. In a dramatic last five minutes Tom Ferris gave Marlow a 3-2 lead, Alexander Renwick netted a 68th minute equaliser for Bath before Jayden Zamler scored a goal in the dying seconds to clinch the win for the visitors. Bristol University beat Exeter University 2s 2-1 to go three points and two places above them in seventh. Ashmoor beat Cardiff & Met 2s 2-0.
London Wayfarers go top of Conference East. They won 4-0 at Brighton & Hove, Brighton stay bottom. Previous leaders Hampstead & Westminster were beaten 5-2 at home by Spencer, Neil Hamilton scoring two of their goals against his former club. Old Cranleighan move above Holcombe 2s in third after a 3-2 win in Kent, Benedict Roe scoring twice including the 66th minute winner. Bromley & Beckenham earned a point at Southgate in a 1-1 draw thanks to Lewis Hyde’s 68th minute equaliser. Chelmsford jump from ninth to sixth thanks to their 1-0 win at Wimbledon 2s who replace them in ninth.
Leeds remain five points clear at the head of Conference North. They took the honours in their Yorkshire derby against Ben Rhydding winning 3-0. Second-placed Neston won 3-1 at Doncaster and Lindum, in third, were 4-3 winners at home to Oxton. Durham University 2s moved three points above the relegation places thanks to a 5-2 win at Newcastle University. Newcastle stay ninth on five points with Oxton who they lead on goal difference. Sheffield beat Didsbury Northern 3-1.
It was an emotional day for Conference Midlands leaders Leek, with the death of former player, GB & England international, Imran Sherwani, announced on the Friday before. Along with many other clubs, they observed a minute’s silence in memory of Imran before their game against Barford Tigers. Imran was of course a well known and respected opponent for Barford over the years too. Leek won the game 1-0 and are six points clear at the top. Nearest rivals Oxford Hawks lost ground with a Joshua Lee equaliser for St Albans meaning the Hertfordshire team came away from Oxford with a share of the spoils in a 2-2 draw. Stourport, with whom Imran enjoyed great success in the 1980s picked up a point in their fight against the drop, in a 1-1 draw at Nottingham University 2s. Birmingham University 2s stay bottom after a 1-0 defeat at Norwich City. City of Peterborough beat Banbury by the same scoreline.

Women's EHL
Buckingham go into the mid-season break with a nine point lead at the top of Women’s Division One North. They won 3-1 at Loughborough Students 2s who were third going into Saturday’s games, coming from behind with goals from Rebecca van Arrowsmith, Jo Day and Sophia Crawshay, the Division’s leading scorer. Gloucester City stayed second but were held to a 2-2 draw by bottom of the table Olton & West Warwicks for whom Alice Conquest scored twice. Sutton Coldfield are now level on points with Gloucester in third after their 1-0 win against Beeston. Ben Rhydding won at Leeds by the same scoreline. A late Phoebe Owen goal was crucial and move Ben Rhydding three points above the home teams into seventh. Repton stay ninth after their 0-0 draw with Pendle Forest.
There were narrow wins for the teams first and second in Division One South to mean no change at the top. Leaders Teddington won 2-1 at Reading 2s with goals from Kayla De Waal and Isabella Robson. They are ahead of Exeter University on goal difference. Exeter were 3-2 victors at Sevenoaks. Lorna Willmott’s second with eight minutes left was the vital goal after Madeleine Moore had scored twice for the home team. Bottom of the table Harleston Magpies led at Holcombe at half time but hopes of a first point were dashed by a second half comeback by the home team, Evie Smith scoring twice in a 3-1 win. Southgate beat Bristol Firebrands 5-2 and Surbiton 2s overcame ninth placed Guildford 6-1.
The top-two played hosts to the bottom-two in Conference West and 2-1 home wins meant the form book and status quo maintained. Leaders Cardiff & Met beat Exeter and Lansdown overcame Slough to stay two points within of top. Team Bath Buccaneers are a point further back. Izzy Usher hitting a hat-trick in a 5-3 win over Marlow. Jess Carr-Dear struck twice in the last four minutes to give Trojans a 2-0 win at Cheltenham. Oxford University beat Clifton Robinsons 2s 2-1.
Conference North leading scorer Amelie Long made it eight goals in three games with a brace for leaders Alderley Edge who beat Whitley Bay & Tynemouth 3-2. They stay clear of Bowdon 2s on goal difference, Bowdon winning 1-0 at Fylde. Newcastle University drop three points back from the top two after a 2-0 home reverse at the hands of Durham University 2s. Didsbury Northern climbed off the foot of the table thanks to their first win. Becci Ousby converted a corner with two minutes left to secure a 2-1 victory over Sheffield. Didsbury go above Sheffield and ninth placed Wakefield who drew 1-1 with Kirkby Stephen. Wakefield came close to their first win too but were denied by a 69th minute equaliser from Martha Bainbridge.
There are new leaders in Conference Midlands with Birmingham University 2s taking over from Cambridge City after beating them 5-2 on Saturday, with five different players on the scoresheet. Cambridge drop to third with Leicester City going above them thanks to a 2-0 home win against Stourport. A win by the same scoreline against St Albans saw Oxford Hawks move from sixth to fourth, keeper Ruby Jamieson’s fourth successive clean sheet. Nottingham Trent University’s 1-0 defeat of Cambridge University moves them out of the bottom two. Stourport are now ninth. Bottom of the table Harleton Magpies 2s came close to their first point, a Hollie Jenkin brace not enough to beat Cannock who won 3-2 in East Anglia thanks to a Jodie Beddow hat-trick.
Hampstead & Westminster 2s go top of Conference East after a narrow win, all results in the Division settled by the odd goal. Hampstead beat Old Georgians 1-0 thanks to Rachel Greenwood’s 69th minute winner from a corner and Victoria Drews’ third consecutive clean sheet. Two early Madeleine Newlyn goals saw Old Loughtonians win 2-1 at Canterbury to stay a point back. Previous leaders, Spencer, drop to third after a 4-3 reverse at Barnes 2s who were bottom before the day’s play. Barnes go above Wapping who lost 2-1 at home to London Wayfarers, Ellie de Heer netted an overtime corner to secure the points for Wayfarers. Wimbledon 2s beat Guildford s 1-0.
