EHL Premier Division Review | Week 12
Open/Men's Premier Division
The Open/Men's Premier Division restarted at the weekend and in the Top Six leaders Surbiton continued where they left off with a twelfth successive win, 5-0 over Wimbledon. There was a hat-trick for Jacob Payton and Nick Bandurak kept up his record of scoring in every game to date this season. This was only Wimbledon’s second loss and Surbiton secured a second clean sheet against them helped by Calum Douglas’s save from a late Sam Hooper stroke. Old Georgians move above Wimbledon into second place with a 4-1 defeat of visiting Hampstead & Westminster. This avenged a loss in the first phase and was OGs sixth successive win. Holcombe were 4-3 winners at Oxted. They were 4-0 up mid-way through the third quarter, including two goals from Matt Ramshaw before a late Oxted rally, although their third was an overtime corner.
In the Lower Six Beeston enjoyed their first win of the season, 3-1 at Cardiff & Met. Having only picked up one point in the first phase this was a welcome three points for Beeston who remain bottom but closer to safety. The other two games both ended all-square. East Grinstead came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Southgate. Brooklands MU also clawed back a two-goal deficit at Reading. A brace from Ben Hooper had put the home team 3-1 up early in the fourth quarter but two goals in two minutes just before the hour from James Sutcliffe and James Lavers made it 3-3 meaning Brooklands returned to Manchester with a point.

Women's Premier Division
There were two games in the Women's Premier Division, both brought forwards by the participating teams.
In the Top Six, our two European representatives, Reading and Hampstead & Westminster, met at Sonning Lane. The game ended 2-2. After a goalless first half Tyler Lench twice gave Hampstead the lead but these were cancelled out by Meg Crowson and Emma Finlay, the second equaliser coming with five minutes to go. Hampstead remain second but trail Surbiton by three points having now played a game more.
In the Lower Six, Clifton Robinsons won 1-0 at Loughborough Students. Evie Grindal scored Clifton’s only goal, to cap off a great week for her having helped Clifton College to the Notts Sport Girls U18 Schools title on Thursday. After losing their first seven games Clifton were unbeaten in November and this was their third successive win keeping a chance of a final place alive.
