EHL Premier Division Review | Week Fourteen
Open/Men's Premier Division
In the Open/Men's Top Six, Surbiton celebrated opening their new clubhouse with a 2-0 victory over Old Georgians, making it a 15th win out of 15 and their first-ever Premier Division home victory over the local rivals. The result means OGs drop down to fourth. Wimbledon are second thanks to their 2-1 win over Holcombe, the same result as their meeting in Phase One. Hampstead & Westminster are third after a 4-3 win at Oxted, the home team’s fifth successive defeat. Hampstead could overtake Wimbledon if they beat them in the last round of matches on April 11.
In the Lower Six, a 2-2 draw at Cardiff & Met was enough for East Grinstead to seal top spot and a place in the finals in the Third Phase. They are unbeaten since return to action for Phase Two. Cardiff occupy eighth but either Southgate or Reading, who meet in a fortnight, could still overtake them although neither made ground at the weekend. Southgate drew 1-1 at home to Brooklands MU, their third draw in a four-match unbeaten run. Brooklands are now five points adrift of safety. Reading went down 4-1 at a resurgent Beeston. The Bees are unbeaten in five after losing their first ten games and the win puts them within a point of Reading who have gone seven games without a win.

Women's Premier Division
Surbiton confirmed top spot of the Women's Top Six and a European place in 2026-27 thanks to two wins over the weekend making it seven on the bounce. They faced spirited resistance from Durham University on Saturday who held them to a 2-1 win. On Sunday they won 5-2 at East Grinstead, with Darcy Bourne and Maddie Axford both scoring twice. East Grinstead also lost on Saturday, 1-0 at home to Hampstead & Westminster who are confirmed as finishing in second place on the back of this second successive 1-0 win. Reading suffered their third loss in four going down 2-1 at home to Wimbledon. Wimbledon also beat Durham 5-0 on Sunday, and these two wins have propelled them to third.
The University of Birmingham and Loughborough Students will join the finals as the top two in the Lower Six. Birmingham have won all four of their Phase Two games to date and enjoyed two 3-2 wins on the road at the weekend. On Saturday they came from 2-0 down at Clifton Robinsons scoring three times in the last quarter including a 68' minute winner from Carter Ayars. On Sunday they were three up inside 30 minutes and held on for the win. Loughborough will finish behind Birmingham despite only picking up a point at the weekend from their 2-2 draw at Barnes on Saturday. On Sunday they went down 3-2 at home to the University of Nottingham who had earned a point on Saturday in a 0-0 draw with Bowdon. Nottingham, Clifton and Bowdon look to be in a tense relegation battle with Barnes who will be relegated if they lose to Nottingham on April 11. Clifton bounced back from Saturday’s loss to beat Barnes 3-0 on Sunday and are two points clear of Nottingham in eleventh.
