EHL Premier Division Review | Week Two

Women's Premier Division
The Women's Premier Division table has a symmetrical look with four teams on six points, four on three and four on none. We are yet to see a draw, and on Saturday there were few home comforts with five of the six games won by the visitors.
In the match between the last season’s finalists, Surbiton gained some revenge with a 4-1 win at Reading. Their goals came from Erica Sanders (2), Amy Costello and Giselle Ansley before Georgia Howe netted a consolation.
Durham University are enjoying life in the top flight and were the day’s only home winners, winning in style as they beat Nottingham University 7-1, with captain Lizzy Pocknell netting a hat-trick.
An Olivia Hamilton corner on the stroke of half time was enough for Hampstead & Westminster to beat Bowdon 1-0.
It was a similar score at Loughborough Students where University of Birmingham won with Coca Hall the only goal scorer; Birmingham and Hampstead have yet to concede a goal.
East Grinstead bounced back from defeat last week to win 2-0 at Clifton Robinsons as did Wimbledon, 4-0 winners at Barnes where newcomer Flo Fletcher opened the scoring for the second week running.

Open/Men's Premier Division
It was a high scoring weekend in the Open/Men’s Premier Division with 39 goals across the six games and only one team winning at home.
That team was champions Surbiton who beat Hampstead & Westminster 4-1. Nick Bandurak, Gareth Furlong and Nick Morgan gave Surbiton a 3-0 lead at the break and although Matt Guise-Brown pulled one back, Will Calnan extended Surbiton’s three goal advantage again.
The day’s top scorers were Old Georgians who are top of the early table after a 9-0 win at Southgate where Sam Ward hit a treble for the second week running.
Holcombe were also in a free-scoring mood winning 7-2 at Brooklands MU with Teague Marcano scoring three and Matt Ramshaw two.
East Grinstead enjoyed a 6-3 win at Beeston, despite going 2-0 down after 11 minutes. Jonty Elmes hit a hat-trick as EG won in Nottingham for the first time since 2019.
Wimbledon won 3-1 at Cardiff & Met and two goals from Charlie Axford gave Oxted a 2-1 win at Reading.
This Thursday evening Reading host Old Georgians, the game brought forward from 11 October, when OGs are in Euro Hockey League action.
