English Legends Honoured by EuroHockey Federation

Norman Hughes - EuroHockey President’s Award

At the recently concluded EuroHockey Championships 2023 in Mönchengladbach, Germany, former English legends Norman Hughes and Simon Mason were honoured by the EuroHockey Federation for their incredible service to the sport in Europe and beyond.

Huges, who was a mainstay in Great Britain's side of the mid-80s was presented with the EuroHockey President’s Award following his incredible work to promote and develop HockeyID.

Following a successful playing career, reaching the Olympic Games with Great Britain, he went on to become one of the leading lights in promoting inclusivity in our sport through EuroHockey and, now, within the FIH.

The EuroHockey President’s Award is offered to those with long and valuable services to hockey, whether direct or indirect or services that have had an indisputable beneficial effect on hockey at the European level. The GB Olympian became the fourth person to be bestowed this honour following Joe Crookham (2009), Bert Spaak (2011) and Jons Hensel (2015).
