Give the KETTLE® EuroHockey EuroChamps27 Big Stadium Hockey Turf a New Home
As part of the legacy of KETTLE® EuroHockey EuroChamps27, England Hockey is seeking expressions of interest from clubs and facilities interested in providing a permanent new home for Poligras LA Olympic turf used for Big Stadium Hockey at The Twickenham Stoop.
This is a rare opportunity for the successful venue to:
- Become one of only two sites in England with the new Poligras LA Olympic turf.
- Play its future hockey on the same turf that will stage the KETTLE® EuroHockey EuroChamps27 semi-finals and medal matches, including the finals.
- Become the permanent home of an important part of the Championships’ legacy.
Who would this opportunity suit?
We would particularly like to hear from clubs and facilities that:
- Are planning to resurface an existing hockey pitch during summer 2027.
- Have a clear strategic need for a high-quality hockey pitch.
- Have security of tenure or the full support of the facility owner.
- Can complete all preparatory works and be ready to receive the turf and shockpad (if required) on Monday 9 August 2027.
- Have secured, or have a realistic plan to secure, funding for the overall project.
- Are willing to work closely with England Hockey and its appointed technical partners.
A tight delivery window
The Championships are scheduled to conclude with the men’s final at The Twickenham Stoop on Sunday 8 August 2027. The turf and shockpad will be lifted immediately following the event and transported to the selected site on Monday 9 August 2027, with installation beginning shortly after delivery.
All necessary preparatory and enabling works must therefore be completed before the turf leaves The Twickenham Stoop. These could include:
- Removing and disposing of or recycling the existing surface and shockpad.
- Completing any necessary repairs or improvements to the pitch base and drainage.
- Completing the necessary contractual arrangements.
- Having the required funding in place.
- Ensuring the site is accessible and ready to receive the materials.
Applicants should only express an interest if they are confident that they can meet this demanding delivery timetable.
What costs might be involved?
This opportunity should not be considered a free pitch replacement.
The successful applicant will need to purchase the turf and shockpad (if required) at a cost that will be confirmed during the second phase. They will also be responsible for the associated project costs, e.g., preparing the recipient facility, transportation and installation.
Applicants do not need to make a financial or contractual commitment at this stage. However, organisations should only express an interest if they have a realistic prospect of securing the funding required to deliver the overall project.
How to express an interest
Clubs and facilities should complete the Expression of Interest form by Wednesday 18 November 2026.
KETTLE®EuroHockey EuroChamps 27 / Big Stadium Hockey Legacy Pitch – Fill in form
The form will ask for information about:
- The applicant organisation, club and facility.
- The existing pitch and its current condition.
- The proposed resurfacing timetable and readiness for the August 2027 delivery window.
- The strategic need for the project and its potential impact on hockey.
- The current funding position.
Following the closing date, England Hockey will review the expressions of interest and contact potentially suitable applicants with details of the second phase.
Submitting an expression of interest does not constitute a formal application or financial commitment and does not guarantee that a club or facility will receive the turf.
