Sam grew up in the Southwest. Attended South Dartmoor College and played for Ashmoor HC when he was a teenager. Made it into the England set up at U18s after failing to reach the squad at U16s, from there he continued in the EDP
Sam made his senior international debut for England against Spain in February 2022 before later that month he was confirmed in the Great Britain training squad for that year.
