Hockey Nation - Give it a Go

23.08.2012
Alderley Edge HC

With the huge success for hockey at the games, two teams in the semi finals for the first time, and the girls bringing home the Bronze Medal we take a look at the huge impact the London 2012 Olympics has already had and look forward to what is still to come.

The words "Inspire a Generation" have been mentioned countless times over the past few weeks and hockey in particular made sure that the sport and it's clubs and providers were well poised to welcome newcomers to the sport with a range of ways to play.

Some great successes have already been seen, in London Richmond Hockey Club saw 40 new people take part, East London HC had 34 get involved and Waltham Forest HC took part in a festival for over 500 young people.

Outside of the capital, the enthusiasm was just as high, Beeston Hockey Club welcomed 30 new young people and possibly the biggest success story so far is that of Lincoln Roses, who have doubled their membership through running a variety of Give it a Go activity.

Clubs and providers have done a fantastic job of accessing local and regional media, find a selection below
