Premier Division Rivals to Clash in Women's Cup

Following last weekend’s Women’s Cup first round fixtures, the draw has been made for the second round of the Cup.

The eye catching tie of the round will be between England Hockey League (EHL) Premier Division rivals Brooklands Poynton and Leicester.  Leicester has already enjoyed a successful trip to Cheshire this season when they came away with a 3-1 victory in the league and will be hoping for a repeat performance.

The other round two tie in which two teams from the same division meet will take place between Sheffield Hallam and Liverpool Sefton from the EHL Conference North.  Interestingly, Sheffield Hallam’s only win so far this season has come against Liverpool Sefton.

There are a further four ties where EHL teams will clash including last season’s semi finalists University of Birmingham travelling to Beeston and last season’s runners-up Reading playing host to Old Loughtonians.  Olton & West Warwickshire host Northampton in an all Midlands affair and Clifton will make the short trip to Firebrands in an attempt to gain the Bristol bragging rights.

Eight non-EHL teams will have the chance to register an upset against EHL opposition and there is guaranteed to be at least two non-EHL teams in the third round as Saffron Walden host Dereham and West Herts travel to Surbiton in round two.
