Junior Performance

NAGS Banner
National Age Group Squads (NAGS) represent England at U16 and U18 level and provide the first taste of international competition for our young players. Involvement in NAGS includes a combination of training sessions, training camps and international competitions.

Squads have access to experienced England Hockey Coaches, Team Managers and Physiotherapists and receive high performance coaching on all aspects of the game, as well as advice and education on nutrition, anti-doping, injury managements, lifestyle and psychology.

Players will participate in the following competitions in 2016:

Under 16s
- Annual 6 Nations Tournament in July
- Training camps and matches

Under 18s
- Biennial 6 Nations Tournament in July
- Training camps and matches

How do I get involved?

Players are invited to attend based on recommendations from Performance Centre coupled with coach observations at the Futures Cup.

Entry and Exit Points?

The NAGS Programme begins in November following the Futures Cup. The first part of the programme is an assessment period (November – February) following which, some players may not continue. The full NAGS Programme runs from February to July. After July players will continue to be considered for future NAGS programmes through their Performance Centre activity.

Players who are no longer eligible for U18 NAGS may be nominated for the U21/Development Programme (from either NAGS coaches or National League Clubs).
