Time to Listen

Time to Listen (TTL) is a three hour interactive workshop, developed by the NSPCC’s Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU) which has been adapted to be specific to hockey.

What is covered on a Time to Listen workshop?

The workshop offers delegates the opportunity to discuss a range of topics in a friendly and informal environment. The tutors delivering these workshops are experienced in this subject and are familiar with hockey’s policy and procedures. The workshop builds on basic awareness and focuses on practical ideas for implementation.

This workshop is designed for Club Welfare Officers and it is highly recommended that attendees complete UK Coaching's Safeguarding and Protecting Children Workshop first.

Subjects covered during the workshop include:

  • What is an ‘aware’ club?
  • Your role as a Welfare Officer
  • Supporting clubs and putting safeguards in place
  • England Hockey’s reporting procedures
  • What England Hockey can do to support you and your organisation
  • Core legislation, government guidance and the national framework for child protection
  • The role and responsibilities of the statutory agencies and how England Hockey’s Procedures fit with these

The workshop is designed to give you confidence and support in your role and there will be plenty of chance to talk to other people in a similar position and share your experience and good practice.

What resources will you receive?

Delegates on the workshop will receive the following resources in addition to the content delivery:

  • One Time to Listen reader (resource booklet)
  • An attendance certificate
  • SafeD Booklet
  • Code of Ethics & Behaviour Leaflet
  • SafeD Poster
  • Contact Card for the Ethics and Welfare Manager
