The 1908 Club

The 1908 Club

There have long been relationships between business and sport but rarely has there been an opportunity like this, for businesses and individuals to become exclusively associated with world-class athletes in an Olympic sport.

At a time when English hockey is riding high on the international stage and attracting growing interest from the public and media alike, England Hockey is offering an unparalleled opportunity to share in the teams’ success while expanding your business horizons and helping to develop the hockey players of the future.

With its distinctive range of benefits, including athlete appearances, social events and access to premium tickets, membership of The 1908 Club allows businesses to capitalise on their association with hockey and its Olympic status for the benefit of their own organisations, whether through client hospitality, networking, staff engagement or unique PR opportunities.

Great Britain won its first Olympic hockey medal in 20 years when our women won Bronze at London 2012, closely followed by Gold for the England women’s team at the 2015 Unibet Euro Hockey Championships are highlights in a period of notable success where both teams have risen up the world rankings, through a series of podium finishes for both the men’s and women’s teams.

Hockey’s association with the status and legacy of the Olympics makes it an exciting sport for businesses to align themselves. England Hockey’s events are now staged at its Olympic legacy venue Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. England Hockey has won bids to host major world-level events every year at the venue, including the Women’s World Cup in 2018.

In terms of participation, hockey enjoys a near 50:50 gender split and is regularly played by more than 180,000 people across the country, and by hundreds of thousands more children in schools. Hockey’s values of respect, inclusiveness and pride again make it an excellent sport for business alignment.

Funds from The 1908 Club are reinvested to afford more young people the chance to benefit from hockey's talent development pathway – the Single System. Through the Junior Development Fund, money from The 1908 Club is used to contribute to grassroots hockey, helping more young people to develop their hockey talent and achieve their potential.
