Junior Club Championships

The Junior Club Championships are all about giving young players the opportunity to play more hockey. Playing with or against their peers and friends is great fun and gives clubs the opportunity to nurture their talents.

There are three age groups, U18, U16 and U14, for each of the Girls’ and Open/Boys’ Competitions that run throughout the season.

U16 & U14

The highest level of competitions are the Junior Super Leagues. These league competitions are aimed at strong junior teams. These teams compete for the Junior Super League Cup, with additional opportunities for success in the Plate, Vase and Salver depending on league positions.

Knockout competitions run for those teams who enter the Area Junior Leagues (previously Tier 2). These teams compete for the Trophy with a Shield competition which allows early round losers a second opportunity to win silverware and gives teams a minimum of two games.

U18

Two Knockout competitions will take place for different levels of teams.

U18 Cup knockout is for the highest level of teams who also enter the area run U18 Junior Super League (previously Tier 1). Early round losers in the cup will play in a parallel Plate competition.
U18 Trophy knockout is for teams who also enter the U18 Area Junior Leagues (previously Tier 2). Early round losers in the Trophy will play in a parallel Shield competition.

Specific Championships dates have been allocated in the calendar to help with prioritising activity and ensuring players are available to meet as many of their commitments as possible.
