About the Roles
We are expanding our team for the September term and are looking for two passionate, reliable coaches to join us: a Specialist Hockey Coach and a Schools Sports Coach.
You will be delivering afternoon hockey and multi-sports sessions that inspire children, develop fundamental skills, and foster a love for the game.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver fun, structured, and technically engaging hockey and multi-sports sessions for primary school children.
Provide a safe, positive environment, adapting your coaching delivery to meet the varying needs and abilities of your players.
Act as a positive role model and represent LKS Active with professionalism at our partner schools.
Ensure all sessions comply with current health, safety, and Safe Hockey guidelines.
Set up and pack down equipment efficiently (sessions require a 1.5-hour total commitment for 1 hour of coaching).
Bonus Opportunity: Additional hours are available starting in September to provide injury cover within our established club coaching setup.
Hours
Currently offering 2 to 4 afternoons per week.1 to 3 hours per day, typically falling between 14:00 and 18:00.
This is an ideal role for established coaches looking to fill gaps in their afternoon schedules, or for driven university students/graduates seeking valuable coaching experience.
What We Are Looking For (Requirements)
Qualifications: An England Hockey coaching qualification is highly desirable (e.g., Sessional Coach Course, Coach Course, or legacy Level 1 / Level 2 qualifications).
Experience: Previous experience leading groups of children in a sports coaching environment. We welcome applications from seasoned professionals as well as enthusiastic, newly qualified coaches.
Knowledge: A strong background in playing or coaching field hockey is essential for the specialist role.
Compliance: An up-to-date Enhanced DBS, First Aid certificate, and completion of the England Hockey Safeguarding Awareness Module (or a willingness to obtain these immediately).
Transport: A full UK driving licence and your own vehicle are essential for travelling between school venues in the West Berkshire area.
