Reigate Priory HC: Men's Assistant Coach

Reigate Priory HC Reigate, Surrey
SHARE

Reigate Priory is seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Assistant Coach to support the development of our Men’s section.

Club Overview

Reigate Priory 1s achieved promotion to South East Region Premier Division at the end of the 2024/25 season, finishing 7th last season on Premier debut, under the coaching of Chris Bowen (Evo Hockey, Old Georgian’s M1 Assistant Coach, Holcombe W1).

The club has a thriving junior section which has been integrated with the senior club for many years, with many of the 1st team being home grown. To continue the club’s progress, we are looking to further develop our talent pathway, individually and collectively, both to push developing players to the top of the club and to provide a higher standard for experienced players dropping down.

Role Overview

We are looking for an Assistant Coach to join our Men’s coaching team and help deliver high-quality, inclusive hockey across the section.

The successful candidate will lead a multi-ability Men’s Club (3rd to 7th XIs) training session before joining up with the Men’s Performance (1s and 2s) for the matchplay part of their session. On Saturdays, the coach will travel with and manage the Men’s 2s but may be asked to cover the Men’s 1s if the Head Coach is unavailable (subject to your own availability).

First season targets will be gaining promotion with the Men’s 2s and achieving player mobility across the club (at the appropriate pace). Support and/or development can be provided by the Head Coach.

The successful applicant will be working with U18s and will be expected to follow the club’s safeguarding and welfare policies. Potential appointments will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check (or be enrolled in the DBS update service) prior to starting the role. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be available Wednesday evenings during the season.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on delivery of Wednesday evening training sessions for the Men’s Club (7-8:30).
  • Support Men’s Performance during matchplay part of session (Wednesday 8:30-9)
  • Coach and support the Men’s 2nd XI on Saturdays, including match-day preparation, tactical guidance, substitutions, and post-match feedback
  • Work closely with the Head Coach, captains, and wider coaching team to support player development, developing a culture celebrating both individual and collective progression.

Hours & Remuneration

The anticipated workload will average 5 hours per week (2 hours Wednesday, 3 hours Saturday) at a rate of £35-45 per hour, subject to experience and qualifications.
