Bees Belong Community Links Showcased For Sport England’s Buddle

Sport England's Buddle programme spotlights Beeston Hockey Club for their amazing community links with the charity "Belong Nottingham". The video shows inspiring content for sports clubs and groups up and down the country whilst highlighting how sport can help make a real difference in people’s lives.

Belong Nottingham is a charity working with refugees, asylum seekers and migrants, which has teamed up with Beeston Hockey Club to pilot bringing sport to the people they work with. The charity reached out to the hockey club to see if and how they could support their families. Their relationship has been supported by Helen Davis from the Active Partners Trust.

Belong Nottingham aims to ensure refugees, asylum seekers and migrants can reach their full potential. Sport can play a key part in this, but the challenges faced by those transitioning into life in the UK can prevent them from getting involved.

England Hockey will be following up this story with more information from Beeston as part of the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Framework plans to promote clubs that are demonstrably engaged with their local community.

The further stories and articles series will provide guidance for other hockey clubs on how to work with community partners and show the range of partners that clubs could connect to.
