English clubs set for busy Easter in Europe

Four of England’s top hockey teams will be in action across Europe over Easter weekend as the continent’s leading club competitions reach their decisive stages. Finalists from last year’s England Hockey League will feature in both the men’s and women’s European competitions, underlining the strength of our domestic hockey.

Hampstead & Westminster HC’s women will travel to Austria to compete in the EuroHockey Club Trophy I from 3–6 April. The London side will be aiming to defend the title they won last season against strong opposition from across the continent.

After their victory in the England Hockey League last year, Reading HC’s women will step onto the biggest stage in European club hockey, competing in the Euro Hockey League Women’s Final 12.

Meanwhile, attention in the men’s game will turn to the Netherlands, where the Euro Hockey League Men’s Final 8 will take place.

Two English clubs, Old Georgians HC and Surbiton HC, will compete in the Final 8. Both sides have been dominant forces in domestic competition in recent seasons and will be eager to translate that success onto the European stage.

Old Georgians Hockey Club have had a memorable run in the opening stages 2025–26 EHL season, reaching the Final 8 after a dramatic win on the final day of the knockout round in October. They defeated Dutch giants HC Bloemendaal, six-time EHL champions, 3–1 in a shoot-out after a tightly contested match.

With four English clubs competing across three major tournaments, the Easter period promises to be an exciting showcase for English club hockey as teams look to make their mark against Europe’s elite.
