HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh visits England and Great Britain Hockey training sessions
England and Great Britain Hockey were honoured to welcome HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh to Sport England's Bisham Abbey National Sport Centre.
The Duchess, joined by Lord Lieutenant for Berkshire Andrew Try, was welcomed by England Hockey President Alex Danson-Bennett, CEO Rich Beer, and England Hockey Chair Kath Russ to the heart of British hockey where both the men’s and women’s England and Great Britain teams train.

The Duchess arrived during the senior men’s squad’s training session where Her Royal Highness was introduced to England and GB head coach, Zak Jones, and players, Phil Roper, Nick Park and Tim Nurse, before meeting the rest of the squad for a team photo.
The men spoke with The Duchess about their upcoming tournaments as well as the importance of hockey in state schools, plus the fantastic work clubs are doing to provide relationships between local schools and the hockey community.
After meeting the men’s squad The Duchess was introduced to women senior squad members, Holly Hunt, Becky Manton, Alex Malzer and Miriam Pritchard, before joining the women’s squad members and England Hockey President, Alex Danson Bennett, on the pitch to take shots against goalkeeper, Miriam Pritchard.
