Open/Men's EHL Premier Division Preview | Week Thirteen
It’s a double header weekend for teams in the Open/Mens Premier Division with one game in the Top 6, Wimbledon v Oxted brought forward to this evening (Thursday 19th March). Oxted have only one win in eight going into the game whilst Wimbledon lost 5-0 at Surbiton in Sunday’s league restart.
Both teams face a tough second game on Sunday. Oxted play leaders Surbiton who will face Hampstead & Westminster the day before looking to maintain their 100% record. Wimbledon meet Old Georgians who replaced them in second last weekend and are on a six-game winning streak going into Saturday’s meeting with Holcombe. Holcombe host Hampstead on Sunday.
In the Lower 6 bottom of the table Beeston, who won for the first time last weekend, host 10th place Southgate on Saturday looking for a win to narrow the gap to safety and follow this up with a trip to Brooklands MU on Sunday. Brooklands welcome East Grinstead on Saturday, both teams having drawn last weekend and their previous meeting also ended all square. East Grinstead travel home to face Reading on Sunday, the teams currently occupy the top two places in the Lower 6 table; this is another match up where the last encounter ended level.
Cardiff & Met have only won one game in their last seven league matches and will be looking to rectify this on their trip along the M4 to Reading on Saturday and on to Southgate on Sunday.
