U16 and U18 Schools Super 6s Finals Review

The U16 Girls competed on 12 January 2023 at Repton School with the following Schools competing:

  • Pool A – Ipswich School, Queens School Chester, Sevenoaks, and Surbiton High School.
  • Pool B – Dean Close School, King Edward VI Southampton, Repton School and Scarborough College.

Over the day there were 17 games played, 73 goals scored, and the joint top goal scorers were Amie Hunt from Ipswich School and Summer Knight-Thompson from Sevenoaks - both scoring 6 goals each.

After some intense and close pool games and semi-finals, it came down to Repton v Dean Close School in the final. Even though Ipswich School had the early goal, Dean Close School came back with two goals becoming the winners of the competition.

The U16 Boys also competed on 12 January 2023 at Whitgift School. Competing schools were as follows:

  • Pool A – Caterham School, Kings School Chester, Trent College and Whitgift.
  • Pool B – Katharine Lady Berkeley’s School, Sir William Borlase, The Perse School and Yarm School.

Throughout the competition there were 17 games played, 79 goals scored and the joint top goal scorers were Oliver Bennett and Conor Yap, both from Whitgift and both scoring 6 goals each.

The final was played between Caterham School and Whitgift School. Whitgift took an early lead which set the tone for the game, in which Whitgift won comfortably with a 7-1 win, meaning they took home the 1st place trophy.

The U18 Girls Schools Finals took place on 13 January 2023 at Repton School. Competing schools were as follows

  • Pool A – Framlington College, Millfield School, Repton School and Wakefield Girls High School
  • Pool B – Kings School Chester, Sevenoaks, Sir William Borlase, and Surbiton High School.

Over the day there were 17 games played, 82 goals scored and the top goal scorer was Amelia Pollock from Repton School.

The final was between Sevenoaks and Repton, and after an even game with 2 goals apiece, Repton squeezed the win over Sevenoaks, 2-3 in a penalty shootout.

The U18 Boys Schools Finals were at Whitgift on 13 January 2023. The schools competing were:

  • Pool A – Altrincham Grammar, Ipswich School, St George’s College, and Yarm School.
  • Pool B – Katharine Lady Berkeley’s School, Peter Symonds College, Repton School, and Whitgift.

With 93 goals scored over the 17 games, the top goal scorer was Oliver Lander from Whitgift with 11 goals scored over 5 games.

After some close pool games and semi-finals, the final was against Whitgift and Repton, where Whitgift scored two late goals to give them 1st place.
