Do I need personal insurance as a coach?

It is strongly recommended that anyone in charge of any coaching session is insured. Exactly what level of insurance is required is a decision to discuss with an insurance broker, but as a minimum, sessions should be covered for at least £5million of Public Liability.  Most club policies will cover this for any session run under their framework, but that may be all they cover, and coaches are advised to consider whether they want their own personal insurance as well.

Any coach that is then coaching away from their standard club environment should also seriously consider having their own personal insurance, as well as public liability insurance.

The England Hockey Coaches Membership includes Coaches Insurance, including Civil Liability Insurance of up to £10 million. For more information please click here
